The National Teacher Training Center for the Health Professions (NTTCHP) is a graduate college that provides formal and informal programs for health professions educators to enable them to perform their role as curriculum and instructional designers, evaluators, researchers, and educational leaders. Graduates of NTTCHP’s post graduate programs contribute to continuous improvement of health professions education (HPEd) as a discipline and help prepare for a future-ready and globally competitive health human resource.

Through its blended and hybrid offerings, NTTCHP is able to advocate for best practices in HPEd in all settings, by making its programs accessible to all health professions educators in the country and in other parts of the world. The college continues to strive for excellence in HPEd through leadership and innovation towards a relevant and responsive education in the health professions.

The National Teacher Training Center for the Health Professions (NTTCHP) is the second youngest College of UP Manila. It was founded on January 30, 1975 by the UP Board of Regents in recognition of the need for professional training of health professionals to engage in effective teaching, research, and extension service.

In the First Semester of 1980–1981, the NTTCHP became a degree-granting graduate college of UP Manila when it began offering the Master in Health Professions Education (MHPEd). Beginning in the First Semester 2001–2002, the curriculum evolved into a ladder-type post graduate program, from the Basic Course in Health Professions Education (BCHPEd) to the Diploma (DHPEd) and the MHPEd. As of the end of the Second Semester 2021-2022, the College has graduated 55 BCHPEd, 153 DHPEd, and 210 MHPEd professionals.

In 2020, the Doctor of Health Professions Education program (DrHPEd) was approved. In September of the same year, the ladder-type program was revised and became two master's programs: the Master in Health Professions Education (Professional Track) and the Master of Arts in Health Professions Education (Academic Track).

The Master of Arts in Health Professions Education (MAHPEd) and the Master in Health Professions Education (MHPEd) programs received candidate status from the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU) and is due for the formal Level 1 visit on September 17-18, 2026.
