Program Learning Outcomes

Graduates of the Doctor of Health Professions Education program are expected to:

  1. value independent scholarship and evidence-based professional practice;
  2. demonstrate competent educational leadership and management in HPEd;
  3. demonstrate critical inquiry and objective problem solving
  4. lead in information and communication technology development for transformative education;
  5. advocate for professionalism and ethical practice in HPEd; and
  6. use advanced communication, inter-professional, and research skills in actively transforming health care systems and education of the health professionals.

Admission Requirements

  1. A Master’s degree in any health science or related field, from a recognized institution. Applicants with the Doctor of Medicine degree with a valid professional licence can be admitted directly to the program by virtue of CHED Resolution 038-2001.
  2. Minimum of 3 years in a health professions education setting as a faculty member, administrator, researcher, consultant, clinician, training officer, or human resource complement. A copy of the official appointment is required.
  3. At least one published paper where the applicant is the primary author or co-author in refereed journals recognized by UP in the last 5 years
  4. A five-page capsule dissertation proposal
  5. For applicants who have not completed MHPEd, MAHPEd, or any higher-education related master’s degree, satisfactory completion of prerequisite courses, namely HP 201 and HP 221 would be required. Applicants can be admitted as non-degree students at NTTCHP until the courses are completed.
  6. For all applicants from countries where English is not the medium of instruction: Certificate from the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) (i.e., Band 6) OR Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) (i.e., at least 550 for written test, 173 for computerized test, and 70 for internet-based test)
  7. Duly accomplished application forms (available for download at http://ngohs.upm.edu.ph/) with the minimum National Graduate Office for the Health Sciences (NGOHS) requirements

Graduation Requirements

  1. At least one full academic year of residency immediately preceding the awarding of a degree
  2. Completion of at least 36 formal course units (40 units for non-MHPEd/MAHPEd students)
  3. Satisfactory completion and submission of the required hard bound copies of dissertation, and electronic copy of manuscript
  4. A GWA of 2.00 or higher in all major courses and all courses are taken, assuming that none of these courses have a grade of 5.00
