Master of Hospital Administration

The Master of Hospital Administration (MHA) program provides the students with the basic knowledge, concepts and principles in the field of health care administration with emphasis on hospital and health care organizations. It also aims to develop proper attitudes and skills to manage a hospital efficiently and effectively.

Program Learning Outcomes

Graduates of the Master of Hospital Administration program are expected to:

  1. administer healthcare organizations effectively, efficiently, and in an ethical manner;
  2. apply the latest developments in the field as appropriate to their specific organizational and socio-cultural contexts;
  3. establish an effective working relationship with co-workers, other organizations, and the larger community;
  4. integrate research methods in hospital administration;
  5. manage change in hospital administration guided by evidence; and
  6. communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Admission Requirements

  1. Compliance with the General requirements found on the 2nd page of the Application Form (UPM-NGS-OP-01F1)
  2. Duly accomplished Application Form (downloadable through the NGOHS website: ngohs.upm.edu.ph)
  3. Good scholastic record from any recognized institution of higher learning
  4. At least 1-year of work experience in a related field

Graduation Requirements

  1. Residency of at least 1 full academic year immediately prior to the granting of the degree
  2. Completion of a minimum of 38 units of formal courses (14 units of core courses, 15 units of major courses, 9 units of electives)
    1. Plan A– at least 32 units of formal courses and 6 units of thesis
    2. Plan B – at least 35 units formal courses and 3 units special study
    3. Plan C – at least 38 units formal courses and passing the written comprehensive examination
  3. A GWA of 1.75 or better in all courses taken, provided there is no grade of 5.00 in any of them. If the weighted average of 2.00 is not attained, either the Certificate of Hospital Administration or Certificate of Units Earned may be awarded.
  4. Maximum residency: 5 years
