Master of Rehabilitation Science

The Master in Rehabilitation Science (MRS) is a professional degree of advanced studies in the field of rehabilitation sciences. The MRS will develop advanced knowledge and skills in a specialized yet multidisciplinary field of study for professional practice. The MRS will develop the rehabilitation professional’s role in actualizing the societal participation of persons with disabilities and those at-risk for disability. Furthermore, the program integrates ethical practice, critical and independent thinking, and collaborative practice.

Program Learning Outcomes

The MRS program aims to develop graduates who:

  1. develop evidence-based programs that focus on societal participation and advancement of the rights of persons with disability and those at risk;
  2. manage projects/programs that focus on societal participation and advancement of the rights of PWD and those ARD;
  3. demonstrate effective use of culturally appropriate information and communication systems in the various roles of a rehabilitation professional; and
  4. communicate effectively in oral and written forms, evidence-informed program plans, or outcomes that focus on societal participation and advancement of the rights of PWD and those ARD.

Admission Requirements

An applicant must be a graduate of a rehabilitation science program (e.g., B.S. Occupational Therapy, B.S. Physical Therapy, B.S. Speech Pathology).

In addition to NGOHS requirements for admission, the applicant for this program must:

  1. Present a proof of qualification in his or her own profession and/or own country/jurisdiction (i.e., professional licenses, certifications from professional associations); and
  2. Complete a successful interview with a panel (to determine compatibility of individual expectations with course design, previous work done).

Graduation Requirements

  1. Residency of 1 academic year immediately prior to awarding of a degree
  2. Completion of 30 units (13 units of core courses, 11 units of major, and 6 units of thesis)
  3. Satisfactory completion of a capstone project and satisfactory performance in a comprehensive examination
