The BSPH program is a four-year course, the first three semesters of which are given in the College of Arts and Sciences and the succeeding years will be in the College of Public Health. The program incorporates two professional tracks: Population Health and Medical Laboratory Science wherein elective courses are taken to prepare the student for the chosen track.

Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Public Health are expected to:

1. implement collaborative research on relevant public health concerns;
2. design health promotion and education strategies in addressing public health issues and advocacies;
3. implement health promotion and education strategies in addressing public health issues and advocacies;
4. perform appropriate assessment and laboratory tests for certain public health issues i.e., nutritional, environmental and occupational, parasitological, medical entomology and microbiological concerns;
5. identify patterns and trends based on appropriate assessment and laboratory tests performed for certain public health issues i.e., nutritional, environmental and occupational, parasitological, medical entomology and microbiological concerns;
6. assist in the management of health care organization and services effectively in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural settings;
7. demonstrate professional, social, and ethical standards of behavior in professional collaboration endeavors;
8. effectively use Filipino and English communication skills in both oral and written form;
9. exemplify positive Filipino values (e.g., pakikipagkapwa, damayan, bayanihan, hospitality, compassion) in the conduct of public health practice; and
10. engage in lifelong learning and understanding of the need to keep abreast of the development of Public Health practice.

1. Incoming freshman student
   1. Must be a graduate of a recognized senior high school program
   2. Required to pass the U.P. College Admission Test (UPCAT), with a minimum percentile of 70% for Mathematics and Science components
   3. Must signify compliance with the terms and conditions of the Return Service Agreement (RSA) for the BSPH program
2. Transfer students: Processing of applications of transfer students from within the University of the Philippines System or from other universities will be done only for the first semester of each academic school year.
   1. From within the University of the Philippines System
      1. The applicant must have a general weighted average (GWA) of 2.5 or better in all courses taken.
      2. Must submit a true copy of grades and a permit to transfer from unit and completed application form
   2. From outside the University of the Philippines System
      1. Entry will be allowed for the first year level only, the student shall be allowed to validate a maximum of 18 units per semester in courses acceptable to the unit.
      2. The student must coordinate with the Office of the College Secretary (OCS) regarding the validation of courses taken.
      3. An applicant may qualify for admission if his GWA is 2.0 or 85% or B or higher from the 66 or more units and that he/she has completed the required units in Chemistry and Biology or their equivalents.
      4. An applicant is also required to submit an honorable dismissal form, a transcript of records and a completed application form.

To be eligible for graduation, the student must have completed 152 academic units and other requirements (e.g., Physical Education and National Service Training Program).

The BSPH students enroll in GE courses offered by the College of Arts and Sciences, including 18 units of prescribed and 6 units of electives, subject to the availability and academic advisement.
