The program highlights the development of advanced competencies enabling graduates to promote movement as key to improved health. The program emphasizes the cultivation of competencies necessary to lead in effecting change in clinical practice and the physical therapy profession. Students will have clinical opportunities to engage in reasoning and investigate issues affecting client care within the context of an ethical and reflective practice. Students will develop critical analysis and judicious integration of theories, physiology, and best available evidence in addressing complex client problems.\\ \\ ==== Date of BOR Approval (Institution) ==== 27 August 2010\\ \\ ==== Program Learning Outcomes ==== The Master in Physical Therapy program aims to develop graduates who: - manage complex client needs in a specialized area of physical therapy practice through evidence-informed clinical skills and seamless integration of decision-making concepts; - manage physical therapy problems or issues with real-world clinical practice implications through scientific inquiry; - lead in addressing complex problems within a specialized area of physical therapy practice; and - uphold ethical and professional behaviors expected of proficient and socially responsible physical therapists. ==== Admission Requirements ==== Aside from the requirements of the National Graduate Office for Health Sciences (NGOHS), students will be admitted to the program when the following requirements have been met: - Local applicants who will practice physical therapy in the Philippines must have a license to practice the profession in the country. - Foreign applicants who will practice physical therapy in the Philippines while enrolled in the program must abide by the rules set by the Professional Regulation Commission for physical therapy practice in the Philippines. - Must have at least 6 months of documented professional experience in clinical practice - Expressed professional needs and career goals of the applicant must match the program. - Must pass an interview - Must show proof of at least a satisfactory (based on the school’s grading scale) rating in assessment and treatment techniques during undergraduate courses - Essay (800 to 1000 words; limit to 1 page, no smaller than 10.5 font, single space) on the following questions: * How do you think MPT will influence your career? * Upon graduating from MPT, what knowledge and skill set do you expect to have? * What is your motivation for pursuing graduate study * What is your view of self-directed learning as a method of instruction? ==== Graduation Requirements ==== The student shall be recommended for graduation if he/she has: - Completed 30 units of graduate courses with a general weighted average of 2.0 or better - Passed a comprehensive examination Other rules and regulations of the NGOHS on requirements for graduation and comprehensive examination for the master's degree shall apply.
