It is also a very good preparation for law school and graduate studies in any field of the social sciences. With its extensive social science preparation and a basic knowledge of an Asian language, the degree also serves as an excellent preparation for a career in diplomatic/foreign service or in a multi-cultural/international work environment.\\ \\ ==== Date of BOR Approval (Institution) ==== July 13, 1983 (implemented First Semester, AY 1984-1985)\\ \\ ==== Program Learning Outcomes ==== PLO 1: Demonstrate proficiency in Filipino, Asian, and some Western history and heritage by conducting comparative studies.\\ \\ PLO 2: Apply multi-disciplinal and multi-cultural approaches in conducting research on social issues (e.g. as researchers, as urban planners, as Asian specialists, as International Studies and Foreign Service experts, as academicians, as Juris Doctors, or as medical doctors, among others).\\ \\ PLO 3: Utilize Social Science disciplines in the analysis of Philippine issues in an Asian and global context in the practice of their profession. \\ \\ PLO 4: Communicate effectively multi-disciplinal and analytical study outputs to relevant stakeholders especially to the non-academic audiences in ways that ensure real-world impact. \\ \\ PLO 5: Exhibit ethical and social sense of responsibility as Filipino citizens having a holistic and dynamic view as inculcated in the Area Studies approach. \\ \\ PLO 6: Attain Filipino national identity and civic consciousness, as Area Specialists, in relation to other nations through studies on various aspects of Asia.\\ \\ ==== Admission Requirements ==== * Complete UPCAT application (with Form 1 & Form 2B) * Take UPCAT exam * Upload high school records and supporting documents * Get your UPG score and wait for offers * Prepare for possible interview/essay (if required by CAS) * Accept offer and complete health requirements === Graduation Requirements === * Students must file a formal application as candidates for graduation with the office of the Dean of their respective colleges. They shall be recommended for graduation by the faculty of their respective colleges after having satisfied all academic and other requirements prescribed for graduation. * During the first three (3) weeks after the opening of classes in each semester, each Dean or the duly authorized representative, shall submit to the University Registrar a list of candidates for graduation at the next commencement. The University Registrar, in consultation with the chairs of divisions or departments concerned, shall then inquire into the academic records of the candidates to ascertain whether any candidate in such a list has any deficiency to make up and whether s/he has fulfilled all other requirements to be a candidate for graduation. If there is any question regarding a candidate, her/his name should not be deleted from the list of candidates for graduation, but a footnote to that effect should be made. Ten (10) weeks before the end of a semester, the University Registrar shall publish a complete list of duly qualified candidates for graduation for that semester (Revised UP Code: Art. 406 as amended at 790th BOR Meeting: 19 Dec 1969 and 861st BOR Meeting: 29 May 1975). * All candidates for graduation must have their deficiencies settled and their records cleared not later than five (5) weeks
