====== National Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology ======
The National Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (NIMBB) was established by the BOR on September 29, 1994 at the University of the Philippines Manila. Its creation underscored the University’s commitment to strengthening molecular biology and biotechnology research in response to national health priorities. On February 2, 1995, President Fidel V. Ramos issued Proclamation No. 526, constituting the biotechnology institutes within the UP System as a network of national institutes and designating them as a National Center of Excellence in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. Subsequent institutional strengthening followed through an executive order issued by UP President Emil Q. Javier on September 3, 1998, which formalized the organizational structure of the BIOTECH network.\\

NIMBB aims to promote and implement research on the prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment of diseases that are major causes of morbidity and mortality in the Philippines. It does this by utilizing cutting edge molecular biology techniques to drive innovative solutions which are tailored to the specific needs of the Filipino people in the context of the country’s healthcare system.\\

**1. Molecular Biology Training for Professionals**\\
Target participants are medical technologists who will spearhead the molecular diagnostic components of their respective laboratories or institutions. Our training program, which will span for 3 days, is a highly technical subject which requires multiple subject matter experts, extensive hours to develop the program with course instructors, and coordination between mentors, instructors, and participants. \\
\\
**2. PSHS Internship Program**\\
PSHS students are given the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in molecular biology, biotechnology, and laboratory research under the guidance of IMBB researchers and faculty. Interns are exposed to real-world scientific work, research methodologies, and laboratory techniques that strengthen their academic foundation and practical skills. \\
\\
**3. Basic Cell Culture and Virus Isolation Training**\\
This training aims to equip researchers with basic cell culture and viral isolation concepts and techniques. Concepts will be introduced to the participants through lectures delivered by our biosafety expert and skilled specialists on cell culture and viral isolation. The participants will also be able to perform basic cell culture and viral isolation techniques such as cell revival, cryopreservation, and culture maintenance with instructors who have worked in research laboratories specializing in cell culture and virology.\\
