The Master of Science in Public Health (Medical Microbiology) program is intended to prepare students and professionals for various careers and opportunities in the different fields of microbiology. Candidates are free to choose any of the available areas of specialization in microbiology (Applied Bacteriology, Virology, Mycology and Immunology)\\

==== Program Learning Outcomes ====
Graduates of the Master of Science in Public Health (Medical Microbiology) are expected to: 

  - acquire a good working knowledge on the principles and methods of Bacteriology, Virology, Mycology, and Immunology;
  - plan, set up, and manage a microbiology laboratory;
  - conduct research projects related to any of the various areas of microbiology; and
  - apply the principles of microbiology and immunology in the promotion and maintenance of health and in the prevention, treatment, and control of communicable diseases.
==== Admission Requirements ====
  - Good scholastic record from any recognized institution of higher learning
  - Possession of a baccalaureate degree with adequate credits in the biological and physical sciences
  - Must have taken Epi 201 (Principles of Epidemiology) or pass a validating examination if they have taken a course equivalent to Epi 201. (Applicants who have not yet taken Epi 201 may still be admitted but they have to formally enroll in the course.)
  - At least 1 year work experience in the related field
  - Duly accomplished Application Form (downloadable through the NGOHS website: ngohs.upm.edu.ph)
  - Comply with the General requirements found on the 2nd page of the Application Form (UPM-NGS-OP-01F1)
==== Graduation Requirements ====
  - Residency of at least 1 full academic year immediately prior to the granting of the degree
  - Completion of a minimum of 34 units of formal courses (11 units of core courses, 13 units of major courses, 10 units of electives)
  - GWA of 2.00 or better in major courses and all courses taken provided there is no grade of 5.00 in any of them
  - Satisfactory completion and submission of the required hard bound copies of thesis, and electronic copy of manuscript
  - Publication requirement as with other MSPH Programs
  - Certification of submission of paper for Publication
